What a fun and wild ride. The Final Paladin was a rollicking adventure and an enjoyable read!
A fast moving, action-filled read from page one. Rife with danger around every corner, the author’s vivid descriptions bring this world of fairy and mystery to life.
I adored so many characters in this book. The main character, Peg, is a spunky New Yorker who gets pulled into an alternate realm previously unknown to her. Akers nails her voice. She’s full of NY spunk and sass, never afraid to speak her mind.
Peg meets up with a motley crew both human and fantastical. But who among them is trust-worthy? Neither Peg nor the reader know for sure. Jack steals many a scene. Witty and short-tempered, Jack can turn into a huge dog on command. My favorite character was Sir Godfrey. Part Obi-wan and part Gandolf, he guides Peg on her journey. Even the minor characters have vibrant personalities and well-constructed agendas.
Reminiscent of Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, this unique fairy tale mixes the familiar with new takes and unexpected turns, with Christian themes evident in the Paladins as well as an important cameo toward the end of the book.
Jam-packed with tension from the first page to the last, this book will also keep you laughing, albeit the humor is dark at times. Speaking of the ending, it will leave you craving the next book.
